I learned one important thing about flower and insect macro photography the other day. It’s not that macro exaggerates camera shake, it’s not that you have to wear comfortable pants crouch down and it’s definitely not that you have to rely on manual focus. What I learned is that you’re going to get bitten and your hands are going to have bug bites all over it.
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with macro photography. Photographers overuse flowers as a subject, but lately I don’t think that’s the case. People are so obsessed with the now and showing off what they are doing or eating on Instagram. People rarely take a break and see the beauty right in front of them. Taking photos of flowers is therapeutic, at least to me.
As you all may or may not notice (most likely not), I’ve been a bit quiet on rycayari.com. Also, as you all may or may not notice (again, most likely not), I did a little revamp on the site. I didn’t care much for the static portfolio site, so I converted it to a blog. I should have done that in the first place.
On this blog, I will cover a few things. Mainly, it will follow my journey through photography as an art form. I will treat it as an outlet on my thoughts on film, the process of shooting, my projects and reviews. I’ll also explore my other interests, such as toys, food, whiskey and Houston.
What can you expect from this site in the future? More content from me and more of my work. I hope you follow and interact with me. You’ll see more of me soon, but don’t forget to hit me up on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
